At our recent AGM, after a remarkable 29 years of service which included 27 years as our Treasurer, Mike Bulman retired as a trustee. Our outgoing chair, Dorothy Savage, speaking on behalf of all the trustees and Keswick hospital staff, expressed our sincere thanks to Mike for everything he has done for the hospital and the community over the years, before presenting him with a small gift to mark our appreciation.
Mike, well known locally for his extensive voluntary work, played a key role in saving the hospital from closure when it was threatened in 2007. Under his spirited leadership, not only was Keswick hospital preserved (unlike others in Maryport, Wigton and Alston) but the number of beds was subsequently increased. He leaves behind a charity in good health and will be missed. Read more in the Keswick Reminder.
